New Pergola, Engraved Brick Walkway Highlights Lewes Campus Changes

Beebe Medical Foundation and community members donated toward the bricks, engraved with names, that line the new walkway under the pergola at the corner of Savannah Road and 4th Street in Lewes. The additions to the corner of the Margaret H. Rollins Lewes Campus are part of a transformational $10 million gift given by the Ma-Ran Foundation, which also renamed the campus, now known as the Margaret H. Rollins Lewes Campus.

A Center for Surgical Excellence

As healthcare evolves, so too does the way people have surgery. Gone are the days when a person schedules surgery and is in the hospital for several days before going home. More and more surgeries are being done and the patient is going home the next day – or even the same day.

Beebe Healthcare leaders have been watching this and are responding by planning to build a $124 million Specialty Surgical Hospital at the Rehoboth Beach Health Campus.

VIDEO TOUR: New Physical Rehab Center at Lighthouse Plaza

Recently, Beebe Physical Rehabilitation Services opened a new location – the Physical Rehabilitation Center at Lighthouse Plaza.

This new space features a multi-purpose room for seminars and events, private therapy rooms for lymphedema management, speech pathology, and physical therapy. In addition, occupational therapy patients can work on their skills in a kitchenette setting.

Advanced Cancer Care Where Our Patients Live

When Kristen Rahn, Nurse Manager of Radiation Oncology, started at Beebe 19 years ago, the Tunnell Cancer Center on Route 24 near Rehoboth Beach had not been built yet.

“We were seeing our oncology patients at the Lewes Campus and I remember we had such high volumes that we were scheduling patients from 6:30 a.m. all the way through to 10 p.m.,” Kristen recalls. “When we were able to build the Tunnell Cancer Center, it really allowed us to provide the type of patient care we wanted to provide – during normal business hours.”
