Beebe Healthcare was awarded an ‘A’ in the fall 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Gradea national distinction recognizing Beebe’s achievements in protecting patients from harm and providing safer healthcare.

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization driven by employers and other purchasers of healthcare committed to improving healthcare quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. The Safety Grade assigns an ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’ or ‘F’ grade to all general hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections, and other harms to patients in their care.

Beebe Healthcare was recently recognized as a top performer when it comes to providing inclusive and equitable care for LGBTQ patients, visitors, and employees.

Jean & Joan Golf Tournament Celebrates 20 Years of Survivorship, Benevolence

One of Sussex County’s longest running charity golf tournament will turn 20 this September.

For the founders and countless volunteers who have helped the Jean & Joan Cancer Fund Golf Tournament grow from humble beginnings, it’s another benchmark for the group that has raised more than $550,000 for Beebe Healthcare’s Robert & Eolyne Tunnell Cancer Center since 2000.

“A lot of the local community supported us from the very start,” said Jim Martin, who helped found the tournament in memory of his wife, Joan. “Our first tournament in 2000, we had 124 golfers and were able to contribute $21,000.”

A New State-of-the-Art Cardiology Lab in Lewes

Beebe Healthcare’s Cardiac & Vascular Services recently opened a new interventional cardiology lab at the Margaret H. Rollins Lewes Campus.

This new state-of-the-art lab adds more than 1,000-square-feet of procedural space for the cardiac and vascular team.

Dr. Malick Islam, electrophysiologist, and his team recently performed the first procedures in the new lab.

New Pergola, Engraved Brick Walkway Highlights Lewes Campus Changes

Beebe Medical Foundation and community members donated toward the bricks, engraved with names, that line the new walkway under the pergola at the corner of Savannah Road and 4th Street in Lewes. The additions to the corner of the Margaret H. Rollins Lewes Campus are part of a transformational $10 million gift given by the Ma-Ran Foundation, which also renamed the campus, now known as the Margaret H. Rollins Lewes Campus.

As progress continues to be made at the South Coastal Health Campus near Millville, team members and supporters gathered recently to sign a beam and a wall to commemorate this new facility, which will include a second cancer center and a freestanding emergency department to serve our community.

Bob Schnepfe of Rehoboth Beach, Co-Founder of Beebe’s Celebrate Excellent Care, recently made a gift through his IRA to create an endowment for the support of Beebe Medical Foundation’s work in honor of Foundation President and CEO, Judy Aliquo. Funds from this endowment will help the Foundation carry out its mission to support Beebe Healthcare through its fundraising efforts.
