Erik Stancofski, MD: We are all neighbors [VIDEO]

Erik Stancofski, MD, was always fascinated by the human body and even as a child in Beirut, Lebanon, thought he would like to go into medicine.

Following his college and medical school education, he accepted a residency at St. Agnes in the Baltimore area. While working at St. Agnes, he and his wife traveled to the Lewes and Rehoboth Beach area and fell in love with the beach and the community.

“We really like that it was a rural community and felt it would be a good fit for us,” Dr. Stancofski said.

When there was an opening for a general surgeon in Lewes, Dr. Stancofski jumped at the opportunity. Two years later, he helped form Cape Surgical Associates. He has been practicing in Lewes for nearly 20 years.

In 2018, Dr. Stancofski and his team at Cape Surgical will be joining Beebe Medical Group.

He is excited for the future and the planned Specialty Surgical Hospital at the Beebe Health Campus – Rehoboth Beach. He already performs outpatient surgeries at the Beebe Outpatient Surgery Center on Route 24, but expects there will be some more complicated surgical procedures he and his team will perform at the new Specialty Surgical Hospital.

“Lewes is a great place to live because it is a close-knit community,” said Dr. Stancofski. “We really are all neighbors here and everyone works to make sure our patients get the very best care.”
